A missing cleaner is covered before the client notices
At 6:18 a.m., one route at Northgate R&D Centre hasn’t started. Priya hands it to the float cleaner from her laptop. It takes her about a minute.
In the video, Priya looks after nine sites around Toronto from her office in Mississauga. On the HB platform, she sees who has punched in, follows the washroom rounds, closes complaints and inspection follow-ups, and checks the periodic work without driving from site to site. The video also follows Ana and Daniel, two cleaners on her team at Kingsmere Tower, from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.
What the video shows
At 6:18 a.m., one route at Northgate R&D Centre hasn’t started. Priya hands it to the float cleaner from her laptop. It takes her about a minute.
The email becomes a ticket, Ana resets the boardroom and attaches a photo, and Priya closes the ticket from her office. Nobody had to drive downtown.
Each deficiency Marco records becomes a corrective action on Ana’s phone. Priya sees the inspection closed out in under 30 minutes.
Attendance, routes, complaints, inspection scores and open corrective actions, site by site. She knows where to step in before a client calls.
About us
We develop and support the HB platform from our office in Rosemère, near Montreal. Cleaning contractors and property managers use it every day to follow their routes, their requests and their inspections.
This page shows what the platform would change for Compass managers and site teams, whether your teams clean office towers, campuses, labs or distribution centres. The video takes place in an office tower, and the same tools apply to the other types of sites.
HB platform: HBpunch, HBscan and its team chat, HBconnect, HBticket and HBcontrol
The day, step by step
Each step below matches a scene in the video, with the person, what happens and the tool they use. In a demonstration, we show the same steps in the platform itself, with the floor plans of one of your sites.
In the janitor’s room on P1, Ana taps her name on the tablet and enters her PIN. Her manager knows right away that she’s on site, and nobody has to collect a timesheet at the end of the week.
Before the tenants arrive, she taps her phone on the tag by the elevators. The four lobby tasks appear, from the glass doors to the floor, and she checks them off as she goes. Her time is compared with the time planned for the lobby.
From her laptop, Priya checks the morning shift at her nine sites. Forty-six of the 47 cleaners have punched in. At Northgate R&D Centre, the route for the labs on floors 1 and 2 hasn’t started because Kevin is absent. Priya reassigns it to Sam, the float cleaner, who gets the new route on his phone. It takes her about a minute, and the client never sees the gap.
From her office in Mississauga, Priya follows the round on the plan of the floor where Ana is working, from the 15th floor to the 26th. Each washroom turns green when Ana scans its tag, with the time and how long she spent there. Priya knows where Ana is without calling her, and a missed washroom would show right away. She has the same view for each of her sites.
Back in the lobby, Ana notices a coffee stain on the carpet by the elevators. She puts down a cone, takes a photo and sends it to Marco, her site supervisor, in the HBscan chat. At 8:43 a.m., he replies that the evening crew will run the extractor, and he adds the task to the evening route. Nobody had to share a personal cell number.
As Ana leaves the women’s washroom on the 18th floor, her phone updates the HBconnect screen on the door by Bluetooth. Anyone walking by can see the last two cleaning times, 9:21 and 7:11. Ontario has required employers to keep this kind of record since January 1, 2026. The screen runs on a battery, with no wiring or network at the wall.
Emily writes that the Lakeview Room, a boardroom on the 18th floor, was left dirty and that a client arrives at 11. Her email doesn’t wait in the inbox of someone who is off that day. HBticket turns it into a ticket and sends her an acknowledgement.
Filed under Housekeeping, the ticket is assigned to Ana right away, and a notification goes to her phone. A building issue would have gone to Tom, the property’s technician.
Ana gets the alert with the location and Emily’s message. She takes the ticket, clears the cups, wipes the table and straightens the chairs, then attaches a photo of the room. She also reports a light flickering over the table.
Priya sees the photo and closes the ticket, 22 minutes after the email. Emily gets a follow-up email well before her meeting. For the light, Priya opens a linked ticket under Building, which goes straight to the property’s technician. Nobody had to drive downtown.
Marco records what he sees in HBcontrol: a sticky counter, residue in the sink and a full compost bin, each with a photo. The score of 89% is above the site’s target of 85%.
Each deficiency becomes a corrective action assigned to Ana, with Marco’s photo. She wipes the counter, cleans the sink and empties the bin, then closes each action with a new photo. From her desk, Priya sees the inspection closed out in under 30 minutes.
Laura opens her dashboard: washrooms done, tickets closed and how fast, the quality score, the HBconnect screens and this month’s periodic work. She has her numbers without asking Compass for a report.
Priya looks at her nine sites side by side: attendance, routes, complaints, inspection scores and corrective actions still open. Lakeshore Corporate Campus turns amber, with three late tickets and two open corrective actions. She opens the site and messages Jordan, its site supervisor, before the client calls.
Marco had added the stain to the evening route. Daniel takes a before photo, runs the extractor, then takes an after photo. The task goes for validation, and Marco validates it. Every periodic task this month has the same proof, which makes billing the client simpler.
Daniel cleans the 18th floor office by office, alone on the floor. If his phone stops moving, it rings first. If he answers, nobody is notified, and if he doesn’t, his supervisor is alerted. By 11 p.m., the floors are ready, and every visit feeds the monthly report.
Send us the floor and room list of one site, and we’ll prepare the demonstration with its real rooms.

For Compass managers
Whether your teams clean office towers, campuses, labs or distribution centres, a district manager spends much of the week finding out what happened at each site. The HB platform brings that information to the manager’s screen as it happens, so site visits can go to coaching the team and meeting clients.
Attendance, routes, complaints, inspection scores and open corrective actions appear side by side for every site in your district. A site that slips turns amber, and you open it to see why, whether it’s an absence, late tickets or an inspection that isn’t closed out yet. From the same screen, you open the floor plans of any site and follow the rounds as cleaners scan each tag. You know where to go and who to call before the client picks up the phone.
Punch-ins come in as they happen, site by site. When a route hasn’t started, you see which one and who was on it, and you hand it to a float cleaner from the same screen. The cleaner gets the new route on their phone.
A tenant’s email or a scan of the QR code on a washroom screen becomes a ticket, filed by category and assigned. You see who took it and when, with the photo of the finished work, and you can close it from your office. Response times are kept for every site.
Each deficiency your supervisor records in HBcontrol becomes a corrective action with its photo, assigned to a cleaner. The cleaner closes it with a new photo, and you see which inspections are fully closed out and which still have open actions.
Carpet extraction or floor refinishing is recorded with before and after photos, then approved by the supervisor. When it’s time to bill the client, the proof is already in the platform, site by site.
If a cleaner’s phone stops moving for the set time, it rings for up to 30 seconds. If the cleaner answers, nobody is notified. If not, the designated contact gets an alert with the last room scanned. Cleaners also have an SOS button.
Cleaners write to their supervisor or a co-worker in HBscan, with photos. Nobody has to give out a personal cell number, and work conversations stay out of personal group chats.
Everything below is measured by the platform rather than estimated. You choose what you show the client, and you keep the rest to manage your sites.
| What is measured | What it replaces |
|---|---|
| Attendance by site and by shift, from the punch-in | phone calls to find out who came in |
| Rooms done against rooms planned, by route and by shift | the signed route sheet |
| Time spent in each room, compared with the planned time | estimates made by eye |
| Response and closing time for each complaint, with the photo of the work | emails to dig up |
| Inspection scores by site, month after month, and corrective actions still open | paper inspection rounds |
| Periodic work done, with before and after photos and the supervisor’s approval | the signed work order |
Send us the floor and room list of one site, and we’ll prepare the demonstration with its real rooms.
For your clients
Your clients are property and facility managers who answer to owners, tenants and their own employees. The platform gives them what they need without asking you for a report, and it’s Compass that brings it to the building.
Since January 1, 2026, Ontario Regulation 480/24 requires employers that provide washrooms for workers to keep a record of their cleaning. The regulation was made under the Occupational Health and Safety Act, following the amendments in the Working for Workers Five Act, 2024.
The record must show the date and time of the two most recent cleanings. It can be posted in or near the washroom, where workers will see it, or posted electronically with directions on how to find it.
On an HBconnect screen, the last two cleaning times are shown at the washroom door. The cleaner’s phone updates the screen on each visit, so the times come from the visit itself rather than from a sheet filled in afterwards. The platform also keeps the history of cleanings for each washroom, which the property manager can look up in the portal.
Each client should confirm how the rule applies in their building. We can show them how the record is kept and updated.

| What the client sees | Where they see it |
|---|---|
| Visits and the last cleaning times of each washroom and room | the floor plans and the HBconnect screens |
| Their requests, the response times and the photo of the work done | HBticket, in their portal |
| The monthly quality score and deficiencies with photos | their building’s dashboard |
| Periodic work done, with before and after photos | the monthly report |
| All of this data, to use in their own reports | Excel, CSV or PDF exports |
When the property manager sees the visits, response times and photos every day, a complaint can be checked in a couple of clicks instead of a chain of emails. At renewal time, you discuss the year’s facts: visits, response times, inspection scores and periodic work done.
When an RFP asks for tag-based tracking, proven frequencies or a client portal, you can point to a site you already clean. Compass brought the tool to the building, and Compass keeps the credit.
We can prepare the demonstration with a site you already clean and present it with you to the property manager.
Getting started
We handle the rollout with your site supervisors and your district manager. Neither Compass nor the client has anything to install on their servers.
We choose a site together where the pilot will be meaningful, with an attentive client and a supervisor who is keen to use the platform.
We walk the floors with your supervisor and list the rooms, with their area and use. We set up the plan of each floor in the platform from your drawings.
We prepare the day and evening routes and the planned time for each room, starting from your current routes and ISSA cleaning times. The periodic work in the contract goes in with its frequency.
We install a tag by the door of each room, and an HBconnect screen at the washrooms you choose with the client.
Cleaners, team leads and supervisors learn the app in English, French or Spanish. The team chat is ready from the first day.
Your district manager sees the site from the first day. The client gets access when you decide, and a first report at the end of the first month. We then review the pilot with you.
If the pilot is conclusive, we add the district’s other sites one at a time, following the same steps. Each new site appears in the district manager’s view as soon as it goes live.
There is no need to roll out everywhere at once. One site is enough to start: its washrooms and common areas, the day and evening routes, a few HBconnect screens and the team chat. You compare what the platform shows with what you already knew, then decide for the rest of the district. The tags and screens stay in place for the next step.
No work is needed in the building. The tags stick on, and the HBconnect screens run on batteries, with no outlet or Wi-Fi. Nothing connects to the client’s network.
Send us the floor and room list of one site, and we’ll prepare the demonstration with its real rooms.
Frequently asked questions
Each user sees only the sites and functions assigned to them. The property manager sees their own building, and the view across your sites stays with Compass. You decide with us what is open to the client, and when.
The app works on a company phone or on the cleaner’s own phone, depending on your policy. Scanning a tag takes one gesture: holding the phone near the tag by the door.
No. HBscan doesn’t use GPS. The platform records tag scans, not locations. A visit is recorded when the cleaner scans the tag at the door of a room.
If a cleaner’s phone stops moving for the set time, it rings for up to 30 seconds. If the cleaner answers, nobody is notified. If there is no answer, the designated contact gets an alert with the last room scanned. The cleaner can also press the SOS button at any time. We can walk your union representatives through how it works.
HBscan keeps the scans on the phone and sends them as soon as the signal returns. The time recorded is the time of the visit. The HBpunch tablet goes in the janitor’s room, where there is a signal.
For work, yes. Each cleaner writes to their supervisor or a co-worker on their team, with photos, in the app they already use for their routes. Nobody has to share a personal number. The chat uses the building’s Wi-Fi or the cellular network.
The apps are available in English, French and Spanish. The washroom screens and the reporting form are bilingual, in English and French.
No. They email the building’s request address as they do today, or scan the QR code on the washroom screen. The form opens in the phone’s browser, with no account to create.
No. The HBconnect screen runs on a battery. The cleaner’s phone updates it by Bluetooth on each visit, with no outlet or network at the wall.
The cleaner can let the supervisor know in the team chat, and we provide a replacement tag. A manager assigns the new tag to the room from the app, and the room keeps its history.
Yes. We help you describe the platform in your bid, from tag-based tracking in each room and proven frequencies to inspection photos, a client portal and the team chat. A site already running the platform serves as your reference.
Yes. Reports export to Excel, CSV or PDF. An API is available on request, and we work with your IT team on any exchange with your systems, such as payroll or billing.
The data from your sites belongs to you. The platform is hosted on Amazon Web Services, and we can walk your IT team through where each type of data is stored. Each user sees only what is assigned to them. We provide the hosting documentation to your IT department and answer its security questionnaire.
The price depends on the number of sites, rooms and screens. We prepare a proposal after visiting a first site with you.
Send us the floor and room list of one site, and we’ll prepare the demonstration with its real rooms.
